Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

After careful consideration, the Commencement Committee has made the difficult decision to host our 152nd Commencement ceremony virtually, on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

While last year’s virtual event proved that we were able to deliver a meaningful experience remotely, we understand that many of you—in particular our graduating students—may be disappointed by this. However, please rest assured that the committee is hard at work planning engaging ways for students and their families to make this year’s ceremony as memorable as possible for our graduating students.

Since the university did not charge the graduation fee in the fall 2020 semester or the spring/summer 2021 semesters, graduates who would still like to purchase caps, gowns, tassels, or diploma frames are invited to do so at our upcoming virtual Graduate Salute. More information on the virtual Graduate Salute will be forthcoming. Spring 2021 graduates will receive their digital and physical diplomas after the ceremony. Additional details will be sent soon regarding an electronic diploma, as well as a mailing request form in order to receive a physical diploma from the Office of the Registrar.
We will continue to provide further details on additional virtual Commencement celebrations as they become available. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to prioritize the well-being of our students and their families.

Thank you,

Alan W. Cramb
President, Illinois Institute of Technology

Peter Kilpatrick
Provost, Illinois Institute of Technology

The university did NOT charge the graduation fee to the fall 2020 semester or the spring/summer 2021 semester graduates.

Illinois Tech shared a YouTube link so that the community can watch the ceremony, where the president conferred all degrees by college.

All degrees and all class credits will be awarded at the end of the spring semester.

Since the university did not charge the graduation fee in the fall 2020 semester or the spring/summer 2021 semesters, graduates who would still like to purchase caps, gowns, tassels, or diploma frames are invited to do so at the university's virtual Graduate Salute. More information is available on the virtual Graduate Salute website.

The Office of the Registrar is excited to share that each spring 2021 graduate will receive an electronic diploma, as well as a paper diploma delivered in the mail, after Commencement takes place. Additional details will be forthcoming regarding your electronic diploma, as well as a mailing request form in order to receive your physical diploma.

If you are an undergraduate student who is graduating with honors, Illinois Tech’s Office of Event Services will mail your honor cords to the same address you provided to the Office of the Registrar for the mailing of your physical diploma. View the university’s Academic Policies and Procedures web page to learn more about the requirements for undergraduate graduation with honors.
