Policy No. D. 2.00

Date of Issue 7/2/2014

This policy addresses unpaid absences of more than 3 days not covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). A personal leave of absence may be granted to an employee in cases where an extended period of time away from the job will be in the best interest of the employee and the university. Each application for personal leave will be decided on its own merits and approval is subject to the departmental staffing needs.

2.01

Employees with a minimum of one year of service are eligible to apply for a personal leave. Leaves are granted for a maximum of 90 days at a time and are subject to renewal based on continuing demonstration of need. In order for pay to continue, employees requesting personal leave must draw accrued vacation hours and personal business days. Pay will only continue for as long as the employee has accrued vacation hours and personal days.

2.02

Employees taking personal leave are not guaranteed job reinstatement at the expiration of the leave. Click herefor how to request personal leave.
