IFSH is strategically located in the Chicago region, one of the world’s top cities for the food and beverage industry. We are a world-class food science research institute that produces knowledge-based outcomes in the areas of food safety, food defense, food processing and nutrition as a consortium between academia, government, and industry.
In 1988, the US FDA established the first center of excellence at Illinois Tech through the grant funded National Center for Food Safety and Technology. As an institute, IFSH has been listed as a top think tank for Food Security issues in the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report (2019).
