Attaching Outcomes to Quizzes Overview

There are two ways to add Outcomes to Quizzes in Canvas. Instructors can

  1. Attach an Outcome or Outcomes via a Rubic to an entire quiz. In other words, the Outcome/s are assessed based on the students’ performance on the whole quiz.
  2. Attach an Outcome or Outcomes to the entire quiz
  3. Attach an Outcome or Outcomes to individual questions on the quiz. (Rubrics cannot be applied to individual questions.)

A few guidelines to note about Outcomes and Quizzes

  • Rubrics can be added to quizzes for feedback and outcome assessment, but they do not affect quiz grades.
  • Instructors can attach a Rubric to the entire Quiz, but if you only have one Outcome to assess, you can edit the rubric down to one outcome. (or just “build a rubric” and pull in whatever Outcome/s you wish).
  • Students do NOT see the Outcomes or Rubrics for a QUIZ like they do for Canvas Assignments
