Armour College of Engineering has been home to engineering leaders since the university’s founding in 1890. Our legacy of innovation and impact spans from educating the inventor of the cell phone to the head scientist of Amazon’s Alexa. 

We train our students in the principles of the engineering profession in an interdisciplinary environment that emphasizes hands-on learning, teamwork, and leadership. This distinctive approach prepares them for a career where they can make contributions in service to humanity.

Real-world experiences are highly valued in the engineering profession, and our programs are designed with this emphasis in mind. Illinois Tech's unique Elevate program guarantees students access to experiences such as internships and research. Plus Armour Academy for Experiential Learning and Student Success pairs our students with mentors who will help them create a customized educational and career plan. It's all designed to set our students up for an impactful career.

This rich scholarly environment also supports research by Armour faculty and graduate students who are advancing fundamental discovery and yielding technological solutions to societal challenges. We provide professional master’s and certificate programs that address issues at the forefront of the rapidly evolving technological landscape, providing students with opportunities for lifelong learning through upskilling and reskilling throughout their careers.

“The program that left the biggest impact on me is the Armour College of Engineering R&D program. I was honored to work under Professor Phil Troyk’s supervision on Illinois Tech’s Intracortical Visual Prosthesis Project. During the program I got to meet and interact with notable professors and physicians at Illinois Tech as well as other institutions. I was able to publish an academic paper in Engineering in Medicine and Biology Medicine and to present this work at a conference.”
