Commuter Program

The Commuter program allows employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for transit passes (Metra, Pace, CTA, etc.) and off-campus parking. In 2026, a maximum of $340 pre-tax per month can be set aside for transit and/or parking.

Transit and parking elections may be changed at any time. Elections changes must be made directly with WageWorks/Health Equity at www.wageworks.com, and are due by 10:59pm CST by the 10 th of each month to be effective for the following month.

New hires or those who haven’t registered with WageWorks previously will need to do so in order to enroll in Flexible Spending or Commuter benefits. New hires will receive a notification from HR that their account has been established, after which they can register by following these instructions. If you’ve registered previously but do not remember your login credentials, please visit WageWorks and use the Forgot Username/Password links.

Beginning in 2026, as part of an amendment to the Illinois Transportation Benefits Program Act, part time employees who are otherwise ineligible for university benefits may participate in the pre-tax transit program following 120 days of employment. Please reach out to Human Resources at hr@illinoistech.edu for additional information.
