C.1 University Benefits

The university offers benefits-eligible employees and eligible family members, including spouses, civil union partners, and minor dependents, the opportunity to participate in a benefits program that includes: medical, dental, life, short term and long term disability insurance, flexible spending, tuition remission, tuition reimbursement, commuter program, retirement plan and accrued and other paid leave. Other university benefits include: use of university facilities, student union, library and credit union.

1.01

The university will comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws regarding the provision of workers’ compensation insurance, unemployment insurance and social security (FICA).

To review the specifics of each benefit option, please click here.The university reserves the right to change or cancel benefit programs or rates as necessary at any time and without notice, except as required by law. University benefits are provided in accordance with the then-existing provisions of the federal tax code.

1.03

One’s status as a spouse or civil union partner shall be established by reference to applicable state law. One’s status as a minor dependent shall be established by reference to applicable provisions of the federal tax code and other federal laws.

1.04

Effective as of August 1, 2019, the university will cease providing any benefits to the domestic partners of benefits-eligible employees; provided that any such benefits-eligible employee that, in accordance with then-existing policy, established with the university the status of a domestic partner will continue to receive benefits for his or her domestic partner for as long as the employee remains employed by the university.
