Move-In
Hello!
We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus in just a few weeks! Listed below are some general reminders. If you are a summer resident staying for the fall semester, please disregard the check-in instructions below as a separate communication on summer transitions will be sent out soon.
Welcome Week
Both new and returning students are welcome to participate in any and all activities!
Residence Hall Check-In
New resident check-in is Monday, August 14th | 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. We will pause all Move-in activities at 3pm to allow all of you to gather in Gunsaulus Field. Move-in will resume after Convocation. Please report directly to your residence hall for check-in. First Year residents will be required to sign up for a move-in time slot.
Returning residents may begin to move in on Thursday, August 17th at 9:00 a.m. Please report directly to your residence hall for check-in.
Consult the Move-In Guide (coming soon!) for specific move-in instructions. Returning students may move in at any time, but we do encourage you to arrive to campus between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Please check your Housing Portal for room and roommate information.

Your Resident Advisor or staff volunteer will be here to greet you, check you in, help answer questions about move-in and getting acquainted with the residence halls and campus!
Step 4: Move in!
Our staff and student volunteers will be welcoming all students and assisting families in any way they can. Find these community members wearing a volunteer t-shirt. Moving carts will also be available for your use at each of our Community Desks. Move-in volunteers will be available on August 14th - August 18th from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Step 5: First Year Students
Attend Convocation at 4:00pm! Check-in will not take place during Convocation.
Step 6: Attend your first Community Meeting!
These will be held on individual floors at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14th and again on Sunday, August 20th at 9:00pm. This will be a great time to get to know your neighbors and your Resident Advisor.
Early Arrivals
We understand that you may need to arrive before the official move-in day. We will accommodate early arrivals starting Friday, August 11th. Please submit the Early Arrival form if needed. If you need an earlier accommodation due to travel arrangements or participation in an athletic program, please reach out to housing@iit.edu. Please know that you may be assigned to a temporary space if your fall assignment is not ready upon your arrival.
